The Spice Tree

Pushing boundaries, sometimes overstepping; it’s a way of life at Compass Box. The Spice Tree first launched in 2005, using heavily-toasted staves in its casks to deliver the deep spice character. However, the Scotch Whisky Association didn’t take kindly to this technique and said The Spice Tree couldn’t be called a Scotch Whisky! Undeterred, Compass Box developed new custom-made casks with very heavily-toasted heads, able to deliver the same flavour profile but that didn’t fall foul of the SWA rulebook.

Et voila, a rich, intense whisky full of baking spices and toasty oak accents; Scotch at its best.
